Car Rentals... ?

Responsibility of Avis/Hertz is subject to the Terms and Conditions in the Avis/Hertz Rental Agreement. Standard rental requirements apply. Car rental vouchers must be used by date noted on vouchers Basic car rental is for Economy Car with manual transmission, including unlimited mileage, third party liability insurance, local taxes (VAT) and may include free drop-offs in country of rental. (HERTZ: EurailDrive program is not valid in Finland, Norway and Sweden.) A service charge is due on rentals picked up at airport locations. Free drop-off is permitted at selected locations within country of rental. Certain restrictions may apply. All drop-off conditions are subject to change and should be confirmed at time of reservation.

In some countries, or for a few car groups, a service charge is due on one-way rentals.

Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection Insurance .. ?

Prices do not include gas, Collision Damage Waiver, Theft Protection and/or Personal Accident Insurance (unless stated otherwise), fees for an additional and/or young driver, airport surcharges, registration tax or car group upgrades made locally. In some countries a service charge is due on one-way rentals. Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection Insurance: CDW and TP, where available may vary by car group and country. These options limit the renter from responsibility for damage to or loss of the rental car, unless it results from use as prohibited by the rental agreement. A nonwaivable excess will remain on the charge of the customers in case of damage to or loss of the car even if the CDW/TP has been accepted. This nonwaivable excess varies by country and car group. 

Each voucher is issued for a specific number of days. Each day consists of a 24 hour period of car rental and must be surrendered at time of rental. Additional time for which no voucher has been presented will be charged at the prevailing higher local daily rate for each full or partial day. Additional days must be purchased in North America or they will be charged at the prevailing local rate.

Minimum Age is ... ?

Cars may only be rented by drivers 25 (Hertz) or 23 (Avis) years of age or older, who have a valid North American driver's license issued at least one year prior to rental, and who present a current major credit card in their name (American Express, Diner's Club, Visa, or MasterCard). The driver's license must be presented at commencement of rental. There is a maximum age for rentals in Ireland. 

Some car groups may require a higher minimum age.

Refunds... ?

Car vouchers are not refundable or replaceable if lost or stolen, except as covered by the Rail Protection Plan (Rail ‘n Drive only). A Rail 'n Drive may only be refunded if none of the components of the package, either rail or car, have been used even partially and the pass is returned in its entirety, unused. Any allowed refund is subject to a 15% cancellation charge.

In Europe, you may call the local office. When making reservations with the car rental company be sure to include the appropriate program code.

Cars not reserved in advance are subject to availability. Car groups in Portugal, Hungary and Greece are smaller than cars in Northern Europe.
Car types vary from country to country and are subject to availability.
